Dilated Perivascular Space of the Anterior Superior Temporal Lobe
- Background: Commonly recognized lesion in other parts of the brain. Typically follows CSF signal without surrounding FLAIR or T2 signal change.
- Clinical Presentation: Usually, incidental findings unrelated to patient symptoms
- Key Diagnostic Features:
- Nonenhancing cystic lesion that follows CSF on all sequences, often having a prominent amount of surrounding white matter T2 hyperintensity
- Located subcortically at the base of anterior aspect of superior temporal gyrus
- DDx:
- Low-grade tumor
- Lacunar infarct
- Treatment: It is important to recognize this characteristic benign entity in order to prevent unnecessary patient anxiety or surgical intervention.
