Ectopic Neurohypophysis
- Ectopic neurohyophysis is a rare congenital anomaly of the pituitary gland that presents with growth hormone and other pituitary hormonal insufficiency.
- Key Diagnostic Features
- MRI demonstrates a small sella turcica, a hypoplastic pituitary gland, and an absent bright spot of the posterior pituitary gland in its normal location. Instead, the bright spot is often times seen in the suprasellar region in the midline.
- The stalk is often absent.
- Associated cortical dysplasia and heterotopias can be seen.
- Rx: Hormone replacement therapy
