Cerebral Inflammatory Pseudotumor or Plasma cell Granuloma
- Benign lesion, fibrotic background & polyclonal mononuclear infiltrate
- Solid, not well-defined, may affect other organs; in CNS:
- Involves meninges, parenchyma, ventricles (spinal involvement is very rare).
- Same process that affects cavernous sinuses in Tolosa-Hunt
- Associated with other autoimmune disorders
- 40% recurrence within 2-years
- May involve cerebral blood vessels.
- Transformation to MFH is very rare.
- May be indistinguishable from tumor by proton MRS.
